In January 2023 Reading Blue Coat School was delighted to host the shortlist event once more.  The Chair, Emma Keeler from LVS, opened the event and introduced Sue Bastone, a founding member of the Berkshire Book Award, who talked about the award and how lovely it was to see so much excitement about reading from all of the students taking part. Attendees had the opportunity to discuss books with students from other schools and it was great to see how much their enthusiasm was shared.

 

Shortlisted books included Rise of the School for Good & Evil by Somain Chainani, Robin Hood – Ransoms, Raids and Revenge by Robert Muchamore and The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes from the YA group.  John Newton from Newt Books provided a tantalising selection of shortlisted books for students to buy.
